A gift to the University

The Hayes Collection is as remarkable as it is diverse, representing the many interests of Fr. Hayes. The majority of the collection now resides in the Fryer Library, University of Queensland Library. The geological specimens were transferred to The University of Queensland's School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and the ethnographic material to the UQ Anthropology Museum. In 1979, most of the ancient currency in the collection was transferred to the RD Milns Antiquities Museum, though several ancient coins remain in the Fryer Library.
