Description
A black-figure eye-cup with decoration of Dionysus with maenads and satyrs, close to the Leafless Group. Dionysus sits between two eyes holding a rhyton and dressed in a himation decorated with red stripes and white rosettes. Vine tendrils surround Dionysus. Satyrs dance on either side of the handles. On the opposite site, between two eyes, a maenad dances with a satyr. Her still is picked out in white and her himation has red stripes and a sash of white dots. The eyes have red irises surrounded by black and are then decorated in bands of red, black, white and black, detailed with incision. Birds below handles. Tondo mostly missing inside, probably a gorgoneion.
