Title

Memorial Tablet

Subject

LIMESTONE

Description

Single ivy leaves adorn the end of the first and last lines. The second iota in the first name is clearly cut as a lamda, perhaps due to a carelessly written original to be followed by the stone cutter; the transliteration of the other letters in the same work is conventional. Naevia is the feminine form of the well-known Latin nomen, but combination name with Greek and Latin elements are not uncommon and seem particularly apt as a reflection of the earlier history of the probable source.
